"Outlander" isn't exactly for the faint of heart. From 18th-century battlefield surgeries to, let's just say, unique medical procedures, Claire Fraser has seen it all.
According to the show's writers, Balfe is the polar opposite of squeamish. On the official "Outlander" podcast, writer Anne Kenney and executive producer Ronald D. Moore spilled the beans on Balfe's apparent immunity to on-screen gore. "Caitríona, I've never known her to be any kind of squeamish about any of this stuff," Kenney revealed, adding with a chuckle that even "cooked rabbits" (a common sight in the show) didn't phase the Irish actress.
