Miori Tolka, a high school student with little personality and an even lesser presence, has grown used to living a life of isolation due to a traumatic childhood and abusive parents. His coping mechanism is simple: fade into the background, avoid trouble, and stay invisible. However, one day in class, Miori breaks his usual pattern when the class bully, Oyaada, begins tormenting the class president, Soku, by stealing her book.
Despite his usual instincts to avoid conflict, Miori decides to intervene and asks Oyaada to return the book.
