For Boreanaz, Season 7 wasn’t just another chapter; it was the fitting conclusion to a character's journey that he felt needed to end on a high note.

In an interview with TV Insider, Boreanaz reflected on his departure, explaining that he knew well before the writers' strike that Season 7 would be his last.

“The trauma is your first kill. How do you deal with that? Starting the season, it was like, ‘Okay, this is the perfect way to wrap that cycle up for this character,’” Boreanaz shared. He felt that the trajectory of his character, Jason Hayes, had naturally reached its conclusion, making the decision to leave both clear and inevitable.
