Yotasaka Otasaka, an ordinary high school student, discovers he possesses a peculiar ability: the power to temporarily inhabit another person's body for five seconds. Initially, he uses this power for trivial gains, such as causing trouble for people he dislikes or cheating on exams. His newfound advantage quickly propels him to the top of his class, landing him in a prestigious high school. Despite his popularity and good looks attracting many admirers, Otasaka is fixated on winning the heart of Yumi Shiianagi, the school’s most admired girl.
To impress Yumi, Otasaka orchestrates an elaborate plan to save her from an oncoming truck. His heroic act succeeds, and Yumi, grateful, offers to repay him with a meal. For a brief moment, Otasaka's life seems perfect. However, his fraudulent activities catch up with him when Now Toori, the student council president of Hasinami Academy, and Jiro Takajo, a student with super-speed, expose his deceit.
