One such expert is Benedict Ha, a former commander in the Polish Navy, who leads a dedicated research team from the Marine Institute of Gdansk. Their focus is on the wreck of the German hospital ship Stuttgart, which sank off the coast of Gdansk during the war. This massive ship, nearly 170 meters long, was bombed by American forces in 1943 and subsequently sunk to prevent it from blocking the harbor.
