This colossal warship, sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf on October 24, 1944, was found resting over 3,280 feet deep in the Sibuyan Sea near the Philippines. The Musashi, along with its sister ship Yamato, was among the largest battleships ever constructed. It boasted massive 18-inch guns and measured 862 feet (263 meters) in length. The discovery, made using an autonomous underwater vehicle, was significant as it revealed the scale of the naval battle that marked a turning point in the Pacific Theater.
